HOW TO MAKE FLOWERS BLOOM IN COLOR

WATER BLOOMING FLOWERS

Another spring activity for the win! So easy and quick to set up with household items! Good thing about these easy to set up at home activities for kids, is that you barely need to prepare for them, just whip out some paper, markers and water and you’ve got yourself a creative and engaging DIY for your little ones.

There’s something so fascinating about watching paper towels absorb water. I’ve done many paper towel creations but these blooming flowers are on my list of favorites. Side note: I am using a medicine dropper in this video because for a while I didn’t have a kids activity dropper. Always look around your house for things that can be used in play time! I will include a direct link to kid’s dropper in case you prefer to buy one.

To make this quick and easy DIY for toddlers, just follow instructions below and you’ll have an entertaining activity in minutes!

MATERIALS:

  1. Paper towels

  2. Permanent marker

  3. Washable markers

  4. Water

  5. Dropper or spray bottle

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Use the permeant marker to draw the stem and center of the flower on the paper towel. Make sure to protect your surface underneath as the permeant marker will pass through the paper towel.

  2. Using the washable markers, Make small circles around the center of the flower.

  3. Ask your child to water the flowers using the dropper or spray bottle to make them grow.

If you draw the stem and center, the activity will last a whole 2 second. Instead, encourage your little one to draw it. If they are too young, draw it for them and have them practice using the dropper. It’s really great fine motor skill practice.
