BUBBLE FEET PAINTING

As a child, I loved squeezing bubble wrap and listening to the bubbles pop. There was something so satisfying about it. So, I picked some up for Nicky, thinking she might be a little too young to appreciate the fun, but I was wrong. She loved it.

So naturally, we took it to the next level! I strapped bubble wrap to her hands and feet, rolled out paper and paint, turned on some music, and let Nicky stomp, crawl, and explore. The result? A colourful, sensory-filled art session that had us both laughing and fully in the moment. Safe to say, it was a pretty great morning!

Come along as we dive into this cool, simple bubble wrap feet painting activity! It’s easy to set up, full of sensory play benefits, and so much fun for the little ones to explore.

Bubble Feet Painting Activity

Come along as we dive into this cool, simple bubble wrap feet painting activity! It’s easy to set up, full of sensory play benefits, and so much fun for the little ones to explore.

Bubble Wrap Painting With Feet

Bubble wrap painting with feet is a fun, low-pressure way for little ones to explore sensory play through movement. The bumpy texture of the bubble wrap on their feet provides tactile input, while the paint adds a visual and sensory element that encourages curiosity and experimentation. As children stomp, step, and shift their weight, they’re also supporting gross motor development, balance, and body awareness, all while creating art! How good is that? Best of all, this activity is process-focused rather than outcome-focused, allowing kids to explore freely without any “right” or “wrong” way to paint.

Materials

How To Do Bubble Wrap Painting

STEP 1: Lay down your white paper and secure it with painter’s tape.

STEP 2: Add a few drops of paint onto the paper in different spots. There doesn’t need to be a pattern, just random spots will work!

STEP 3: Wrap your little ones’ feet and/or hands in bubble wrap and secure it with tape.

STEP 4: Get your little one to stand up, walk to the paper, and start to stomp and smash the paint on the paper, making a fun pattern.

STEP 5: Add bubble wrap to your little ones’ hands if you haven’t yet, and add more paint as it gets consumed.

Bubble Wrap Painting Ideas

Bubble wrap isn’t just for painting! It’s a super-versatile art and sensory tool that opens up all kinds of creative possibilities for kids (and adults who secretly love bubble popping, too!). Beyond feet painting, you can use bubble wrap to create textured prints and multi-sensory play experiences that make exploring color, pattern, and movement even more engaging.

Here are some fun ways to turn bubble wrap into fun painting ideas:

Stomp and Walk Painting

Tape large sheets of bubble wrap to the floor, let kids step into paint with bubble-wrapped feet, and watch colourful footprints and marks appear on paper. This combines gross motor movement with artistic outcome.

Bubble Wrap Prints

Cut bubble wrap into small pieces, brush paint onto the bubbles, and press them onto paper to create textured artwork. It’s an easy process art activity that supports creativity and experimentation with colour and pattern.

Bubble Wrap Rollers

Wrap the bubble wrap around a cardboard tube or rolling pin, dip it in paint, and roll it across paper for striped, dotted texture patterns. This idea is perfect for backgrounds, gift wrap designs, and abstract art.

Shape Stamping

Cut bubble wrap into shapes like eggs, stars, or leaves before you start painting. Then you can press the shapes onto colored cardstock for themed projects (like Easter eggs or seasonal scenes).

Nature Scenes or Collages

Use bubble wrap printing to create textured grass, tree leaves, or ocean waves. Then you can add drawings, cutouts, or collage elements for layered art.

Bubble feet painting is a fun way to engage your little ones!

Now you can turn on some music and go for it! Live, love, PLAY!
