MAGIC MILK SCIENCE EXPERIMENT

MAGIC MILK FOOD COLORING EXPERIMENT

A great way for kids to explore primary colors and learn how to make new ones by mixing them! Plus something really fun to do with expired milk (or almost expired if you’re impatient like me.) if you ask me these look like kaleidoscope art, should I start calling it kaleidoscope milk: an interactive art exhibit for kids? Ok maybe not but its still so fun!

MATERIALS:

  1. Full fat milk

  2. Food coloring

  3. Dish Soap

  4. Q-Tips or Cotton Balls

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Add a thin layer of milk to a plate or bowl.

  2. Grab two colors of food coloring and add a few drops to the milk. You want it to stay in drop form as much as possible so you don’t mix it.

  3. Dip the Q tip in the dish soap and lightly tap the milk with food coloring. Leave it steady and watch the milk move around on its own making the colors mix!

  4. Once the milk stops moving, use the q-tip to mix the colors together making a new color out of the two you added.
