COLOR WHEEL DIY

PRIMARY COLOR WHEEL DIY FOR KIDS

Am I the only one that gets super excited when encountering the school supply aisle while out shopping? I just can’t help myself! This time I found some colorful page separators and I had to grab them. You know, for no particular reason. Had a 100 pack of paper fasteners and I knew the two would be a perfect pairing.

And indeed, it was a perfect pairing. An easy to make at home educational activity for the little ones. This primary color wheel DIY is perfect for practicing colors and how to make new colors out of primary ones. I think it would make a great tool for playing at home and for classrooms as well.

MATERIALS:

  1. Red, yellow, and blue plastic dividers

  2. Marker

  3. Round Bowl

  4. Ruler

  5. Scissors

  6. Paper Fastener

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Use the bowl to trace a circle on each of the colored plastic dividers.

  2. Cut the circles out.

  3. Make a dot in the center of each circle. Use a ruler to help you find the perfect center of each circle.

  4. Cut a tiny slot right on the dot in the center of her circle.

  5. Use a ruler to mark three inches on the edge of each circle. Cut off a piece in the form of a triangle but don’t cut all the way to the center. About half an inch away from the center.

Ask your little ones to make a specific color out of the ones provided in the color wheel. Watch them figure out which colors make new ones and their little faces light up when they create colors!
